CRU has heard that loose tube cable manufacturing lines in the US are at full capacity. There was some thought that many of the broadband stimulus customers might migrate to using ribbon cable given potentially higher counts being deployed in middle mile applications. This would allow operators to lower expenses on fibre splicing during deployment, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
