NTT East and West will deliver movies to theatres over their fibre networks. Two theatre firms, Toho Co. and Kadokawa Group, plan to replace film projectors with digital servers and projectors and use the NTT networks for delivering digital movie files to 45 theatres, representing 407 screens. The transition will eliminate the cost of copying films. Corning Inc. announced a tight-bend-radius multimode fibre this week. The new fibre, called ClearCurve 50 meets or exceeds the OM3 standard and the proposed OM4 standard for 50-um core graded-index, laser-optimized multimode fibres. Coming will exhibit the fibre at next week's BICSI conference in Orlando, FL.
