Beyond Adomian method: The variational iteration method for solving heat-like and wave-like equations with variable coefficients

Recently Adomian method was used to solve various kinds of heat-like and wave-like equations. In this Letter, an alternative approach called the variational iteration method is presented to overcome the demerit of complex calculation of Adomian polynomial.
