For the US, Q4 09 was only 2% lower than Q4 08. For North America, the difference was 4%. But for both US and all of North America, this was the best year-on-year showing of any quarter. After several slow months last year, especially during the summer, the year ended with the usual seasonal pattern and no unexpected Q4 shortfalls. As 2010 gets underway, market factors offer some basis for cautious optimism, but no one expects a sudden bounce-back in optical cable demand.
