International Trade in Fibre and Cable--Projected 2010 imports achieve 2008 levels in most markets

Communications fibre is produced in 16 countries. With this issue of the Monitor, CRU has begun tracking international trade data on 47 markets that have optical cable producers. The net result is that many markets with robust optical cable industries must import fibre, so that more than 60 million fibre-km, or about a third of the world's fibre market is imports.
