ECI Telecom announced last month that it had received a contract from Latvia's Lattelecom to supply GPON equipment for the carriers' triple play project, which will provide high-speed Internet and HD IPTV service. Lattelecom initially will serve commercial customers in the capital city Riga with 100 Mbps, to be upgraded to 500 Mbps by year end. After that, the carrier will look to expand service nationwide. Latvia has 900,000 households and a population of 2.3 million.
