摘要

In December 2009 the leaders of the developed and developing world met in Copenhagen to discuss the future of the Kyoto protocol and with it the measures to mitigate man made CO_2 emissions. The objective of the summit was to outline a common policy on climate change identifying worldwide CO_2 emission limits, moving closer to a global emission caps scheme. However, as it turned out, the meeting did not reach its objective since the discussion of concrete actions were postponed to the meeting that will be held in Mexico city in November 2010. The Copenhagen meeting though did produce a broad accord that reinstated the key importance of tackling the problem of global warming although a formal agreement on emission cuts is still lacking.
