Rio Tinto Alcan has raised its investment to build an aluminium plant in Paraguay to $3.3bn, up from the previous investment of $2.5bn, which it announced in December last year. This higher investment will raise expected annual capacity to around 670,000 tpy from the earlier quoted 480,000 tpy. Construction of the plant is set to begin in 2014 and is expected to be completed within two and a half years.
