US primary demand remains relatively weak. Distributors appear to be struggling to get their inventories to match actual demand. Increased spending on renovations has seen the rate of decline in the housing market ease somewhat while we are now seeing some pockets of improvement in the transport sector as output of autos and trucks edge higher.
