In the USA, there has been an upturn in new orders, which has stabilised the Order Book Index after it witnessed two months of decline. The US Purchasing Index has also improved to 53.3 in November, from 52.4. The stock component of this index has declined again, and now sits at its lowest level since September 2012. However, companies have managed to clear most of their order backlogs. These readings suggest that any increases in consumption will likely need to be driven by new orders and restocking over the next few months.
