As noted earlier, Prysmian's acquisition of Draka will have far-reaching effects on optical fibre, telecom cable, and power cables markets. The two companies also have complementary strengths in specialty cables, such as railway signalling, oilfield, and subsea cables. Both corporations have headquarters in Europe but serve markets throughout the world. The companies together have operations in more than 50 countries, including 90 manufacturing plants and 20,000 employees worldwide.
