Based on the trade information available for part of Ql, the total optical cable consumption in Western and Eastern Europe together was 7.3 million fibre-km. This is a record quarter - more optical cable deployments than in any quarter before the recession or during the bubble years. The growth was spread through a large number of markets, many with double-digit percentage increases over Q1-2010 and over Q4-2010.
