Sumitomo Chem & Zeon Agree to Study Potential Merger of S-SBR Businesses

Tokyo—Sumitomo Chemical and Zeon Corp. have reached a basic non-binding agreement for a joint study on the possible consolidation of both companies' solution styrene butadiene rubber (S-SBR) businesses. The parties are considering forming a new joint venture company in April 2017, and will transfer their current S-SBR operations, including those of their respective subsidiaries, to the new company. Completion of due diligence and studies is expected by the end of next month.
