Qafac Launching C02 Recovery Unit; Will Increase Methanol Production

Mesaieed—Qatar Fuel Additives Co. (Qafac) will on 9 Feb. officially launch its new large-scale carbon dioxide (C02) recovery plant in Mesaieed, Qatar (PCN, 22 Sept 2014, p 4). The facility is capable of recovering and reprocessing about 500 t/d of C02 from combustion exhaust gas resulting from Qafac's methanol production. The recovered C02 will then be injected into the company's existing methanol facility to increase capacity by approximately 46,000 t/y.
