Shintech Proceeding with Plans to Build 500,000-T/Y Ethylene Unit in Louisiana

Houston— Shintech, the U.S. subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemical, said it will proceed with construction of a 500,000-t/y ethylene plant in Plaquemine, La. (PCN, 28 Apr 2014, p 3). Toyo Engineering has been chosen as the main construction contractor for the project, which will be based on Lummus Technology. Construction is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2018.
