RusVinyl Enters Commissioning Phase On Integrated PVC Complex in Kstovo

Kstovo—RusVinyl has completed construction and started commissioning what has been identified as "the largest joint venture integrated polyvinyl chloride (PVC) project in Russia" at Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod (PCN, 2 Aug 2010, p 2). The RusVinyl project, built as a joint venture of Solvin and Sibur Holding, has the capacity to produce 330,000 t/y of PVC and 225,000 t/y of caustic soda. The facility, based on Solvay's technology, is designed for future expansion to 510,000 t/y of PVC and 335,000 t/y of caustic soda. Ethylene feedstock is being supplied by Sibur's Kstovo cracker. RusVinyl has successfully produced trial batches of PVC and caustic soda and anticipates commercial operations before the end of this year.
