Showa Denko to Absorb and Merge Activities of Marusho Kogyo Unit

Tokyo-Showa Denko KK (SDK) has reached a decision to absorb and merge with its wholly-owned Marusho Kogyo Co. Ltd. subsidiary, effective 25 Apr. 2013. SDK explained that Marusho Kogyo had a shipment base for the sale of liquefied ammonia and industrial aqueous ammonia in the Soma District of Japan's Fukushima Prefecture. As a result of the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan, the shipment base was damaged and operations were suspended.
