London—Green Biologies Ltd. (GBL), a company focused on producing bio-butanol and other C4 chemicals from a range of sustainable and renewable feedstocks, has received ￡185,000 in grant funding from the Technology Strategy Board to engineer a novel bacterial host for biobutanol production. The ￡492,000 project, expected to last 18 months from its 1 May 2013 start, has also received ￡245,000 in funding from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. The remaining ￡62,000 is being funded by GBL.
