Axens, IFPEN & Michelin Joining In Development of Biobutadiene

Paris—Axens, IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) and Michelin have joined in a research partnership to develop and bring to market a process for producing biobutadiene. The process, named BioButterfly, will make it possible to produce innovative, more environmentally-friendly synthetic rubber and will help lay the groundwork for a future bio-sourced synthetic rubber industry in France, Axens said. BioButterfly is backed by a ?52-million budget over eight years.
