Zeon Achieves Commercial Production On New SSBR Project in Singapore

Singapore—Zeon Corp. has started full-scale commercial production of solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR) on Ju-rong Island, Singapore (PCN, 15 Apr 2013, p 3). The plant, with a capacity of between 30,000 t/y and 40,000 t/y of SSBR, is the first phase of a two-phase project that had been scheduled to begin production in July 2013. Last April, the company said the start of production was being delayed due to "unexpected site conditions." The problem was discovered during construction of a stretch of public service tunnels that support Zeon's pipelines.
