Nippon Shokubai Receives Approval To Restart Himeji Acrylic Acid Unit

Tokyo—Nippon Shokubai Co. has received a "lift of restrictions," allowing it to proceed with the restart of one of the acrylic acid production units and some acrylic acid derivatives at the company's Himeji, Japan, facility (PCN, 21 Jan 2013, p 4). Two explosions at the Himeji complex last September impacted the company's production of acrylic acid and su-perabsorbent polymers, and resulted in the suspension of most operations at the site. In the interim, Nippon Shokubai has received permission to restart several facilities.
