Nanjing-BASF and Sinopec are exploring an extension of their BASF-YPC venture in Nanjing, China, including expanding the existing 330,000 t/y of ethylene oxide (EO) capacity and construction of a neopentylglycol (NPG) production unit. BASF-YPC is also going ahead with plans to build additional acrylic acid and butyl acrylate plants in Nanjing, where a 60,000-t/y superabsorbent polymers (SAP) plant is currently under construction (PCN, 28 May 2012, p 2). All of the new capacity is due to come on stream in 2014.
