Rosneft Partners with Mitsui to Develop Major Petrochem Complex in Nakhodka

Moscow-Rosneft and Mitsui & Co. have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop the Far East Petrochemical Co. (Fepco) project, which Rosneft said will be "one of the largest petrochemical projects globally," in Nakhodka, in Russia's Primorsk region. In 2011, Rosneft established Fepco as a subsidiary to implement the project. As planned, the complex will process 3.4-million t/y of hydrocarbon feedstock, mostly naphtha, and have the capacity to produce 2-million t/y of ethylene and propylene. The project, expected to come on line in 2017, also includes the production of polyethylene, polypropylene and other petrochemicals.
