Lanxess Completes 6400-MM Investment; Opens Jurong Island Butyl Rubber Plant

Singapore—Lanxess has completed its "largest investment in the company's history," spending approximately ?400-million to build a 100,000-t/y butyl rubber plant on Jurong Island, Singapore (PCN, 28 June 2010, p 2). The new plant, which will produce both premium halo-butyl rubber and regular butyl rubber, began operations during the first quarter of this year and will begin commercial production in the third quarter. The facility is expected to achieve full capacity in 2015.
