BASF Successfully Ends Tender Offer; Acquires 71% of Verenium's Shares

Ludwisshafen— BASF has successfully completed its tender offer to purchase all outstanding shares of common stock of biotechnology firm Verenium Corp. (PCN, 23 Sept 2013, p 3). As of the 31 Oct. expiration of the offer, 11,337,044 Verenium shares were validly tendered and not withdrawn, representing about 71% of Verenium's outstanding shares. The enterprise value is approximately $62-million (?48-million).
