BASP in Cooperation with TUV SUD Introduces Renewable Feed Process

Ludwisshafen— BASF, in cooperation with third-party certification body TUV SUD, has developed an "innovative mass balance approach" for the use of renewable feedstocks in the integrated production. Available immediately, the process can be fit to customers' requirements. In the new process, biomass feedstock is used in the production of basic products in existing plants. The biomass share is then allocated to sales products according to their recipes using the new certified methodology. The quality of the product remains unchanged, BASF explained.
