Methanex Debottleneeking in Canada; Resumes Production in New Zealand

Vancouver-Methanex, in its first quarter earnings report, said the company is currently debottlenecking its Medicine Hat, Alberta, facility in Canada to add 90,000 t/y of methanol capacity by the end of the third quarter of this year. The 470,000-t/y Medicine Hat plant is currently able to produce above stated capacity due to the age of its catalyst and the composition of the natural gas feedstock, the company explained.
