SSTPC Launches Second Phase Project With Polycarbonate Plant in Tianjin

Tianjin-Sinopec Sabic Tianjin Petrochemical Co. (SSTPC) has started construction on a polycarbonate plant as the second phase of its joint venture petrochemical complex in Tianjin, China (PCN, 23 May 2011, p 30). The 260,000-t/y project will be based on the "world's leading" non-phosgene polycarbonate production technology and will produce four major classes Of polycarbonate, including mixed, extrusion, optical and molding grades. Operations are expected to begin in 2015.
