DSM Joining Poet to Demonstrate And License Cellulosic Bioethanol

Sioux Falls—DSM and Poet LLC are forming Poet-DSM Advanced Biofuels LLC as an equally-owned joint venture to commercially demonstrate and license cellulosic bioethanol based on their proprietary and complementary technologies. The new venture plans to begin producing cellulosic ethanol from corn crop residue at Poet's "Project Liberty" facility, which is being built adjacent to its existing corn ethanol plant inEmmetsburg, Iowa (PCN, 3 Oct 2011, p 3). The plant is expected to come on stream in the second half of 2013, with a capacity of about 20-million gal/yr in the first year of operation, rising to about 25-million gal/yr.
