Braskem Expands FVC Production With Start of New Alagoas Plant

Sao Paulo-Braskem said it has started up its recently completed 200,000-t/y polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plant in Alagoas, Brazil, expanding PVC capacity at the site to 460,000 t/y (PCN, 14 May 2012, p 4). Carlos Fadigas, president of the company, noted that the opening of this US$470-million facility is "essential" to meet the demands of Braskem's customers in Brazil.
