LyondellBasell Resuming Production At Wesseling Low-Density PE Unit

Wesseling—LyondellBasell said it plans to restart a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plant at Wesseling, Germany, that has been out of service since a 21 Jan. 2012 explosion at the site (PCN, 20 Feb 2012, p1). The incident was limited to the 130-million-lb/yr LDPE facility, which has historically been used for healthcare applications. Production is scheduled to resume in mid-2013.
