Cambridse— Metabolix said it has been awarded two new patents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office related to its "novel and efficient production" of biobased polymers and industrial chemicals. Patent 8,093,022, titled Polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) Biopolymer Compositions, enables the production of a new series of PHA biopolymer compositions using genetically engineered microbial strains.
