Shell Signs Agreement with Essar Oil For Stanlow Refinery. Chem Assets

London-Shell said it has signed an agreement for the sale of its 270,000-b/d refinery and certain associated operations at Shell's Stanlow integrated oil and chemicals site in the UK to Essar Oil for about $1.3-billion (PCN, 28 Feb 2011, p 4). The sale, expected to be completed in the second half of 2011, includes oil products, chemical production and access rights to certain distribution terminal assets. It also includes the commercial bulk and marine fuels businesses. Shell will retain the Shell higher olefins plant and alcohols units, among other assets at Stanlow.
