Natpet Halts Yanbu PP Production, Citing a Technical Defect in Plant

Yanbu—National Petrochemical Industrial Co. (Natpet), a joint stock company majority owned by Alujain Corp., has stopped production at its polypropylene (PP) plant in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, because of a "technical defect" in a dehydrogenation unit at the complex, said Alujain. Natpet started commercial production at its 400,000-t/y propylene and 400,000-t/y PP Yanbu facility last year after having to postpone operations because of "technical problems" (PCN, 16-23 Aug 2010, p 1).
