ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe to modernize converter plant and waste-heat boiler

ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe is investing 20 million euros in one of its core facilities in Duisburg. From 3 August to 17 September 2013 the company replaced the first of two converters and parts of the associated waste-heat boiler system at the Bruck-hausen oxygen steelmaking plant (Ox 1). The modernization was a logistical tour de force: While production in converter No. 2 continued, around 1000 specialists working on two job sites ensured a smooth rebuild.
