Barclays Capital sees copper price rising to 8 000 dollars/tin H1

UK-based Barclays Capital is bullish on the copper outlook for 2010, expecting the commodity's price to increase to 8 000 dollars/ton in the first half of the year. Addressing delegates at the 2010 Mining Indaba, in Cape Town, Barclays Capital MD of the research team Kevin Norrish stated that copper prices were forecast to increase to record highs in the next two years. Copper prices were expected to average 6 875 dollars/t this year, rising to 7 000 dollars/t next year and to a high of 8 500 dollars/t in 2012.
