Not So Rare-- Japan looking for alternative sources of rare earths, makes major find in Pacific

Scientists in Japan have announced that they have found huge amounts of rare-earth minerals in the sea floor sediments of the Pacific Ocean. The research team took samples from 78 sites spread across a large area of the Pacific, and found high concentrations of rare earths at many locations across the eastern South Pacific and central North Pacific.
