MINING output in South Africa fell for the third consecutive month in July, reflecting the negative impact of strikes during the month. Production fell by 4.3% month-on-month and by 5.1% year-on-year, official statistics showed last week. Gold and coal production, which together account for 42% of the country's total production, were down by 0.2% and 10.7% month-on-month respectively.
