USGS Sees 20 Billion Barrels of Oil in Midland Wolfcamp

The Wolfcamp Shale in the Permian Basin's Midland subplay in West Texas holds the largest reserves of undiscovered, technically recoverable continuous crude oil in the US, an assessment by the US Geological Service (USGS) has shown. The agency said the formation holds a mean estimate of 20 billion barrels of undiscovered, technically recoverable barrels of oil, along with 16 trillion cubic feet of associated natural gas and 1.6 billion bbl of natural gas liquids.
