The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that domestic crude oil production increased by 10,000 barrels per day to 8.745 million b/d in the week ended Jun. 3. The agency said output in Alaska increased by 18,000 b/d, while volumes in the rest of the country -- onshore and offshore -- declined by 8,000 b/d. The EIA's weekly production numbers are generally regarded as a preliminary estimate of US crude oil output. Its monthly numbers are viewed as a more complete and accurate reading of US production volumes, although they are typically published with a delay of about two months.
