Global energy demand is on a trend of much slower growth for the foreseeable future, a closely watched industry report has confirmed. Amid plentiful supply of all fuels, last year's demand growth of 1% in primary energy consumption was barely half the average of the last 10 years, according to the latest BP Statistical Review of World Energy, released on Wednesday. "What we are seeing is a gradual deceleration in the growth of global consumption," BP Chief Executive Bob Dudley said at the launch of this year's report in London, confirming the slowing trend seen in 2014 (OD Jun.11'15).
