BP to Invest in Biojet Firm

BP is investing $30 million to form a strategic partnership between its BP Ventures and Air BP business with Fulcrum BioEnergy as part of its transition to a "lower carbon economy." The UK major has secured a 10 year offtake agreement with Fulcrum for 50 million US gallons/yr of low-carbon jet fuel from its North American plants that are currently under development. Fulcrum uses a "reliable and efficient process" to produce biojet fuel from municipal solid waste, and said it has secured long-term access to feedstock, fuel offtake and logistic services to continue its development operations.
