Adnoc Shake-Up Marks Shift for Abu Dhabi

The United Arab Emirates on Monday appointed Sultan al-Jaber as director-general of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (Adnoc), an unexpected and significant change at the top of the conservatively managed state entity, which is responsible for almost all the UAE's oil production of around 2.9 million barrels per day. He replaces Abdulla Nasser al-Suwaidi, who had held the top job at Adnoc since June 2011.
