Drilling contractor Nabors said Wednesday that while rig utilization in the US lower 48 was up during the third quarter, average dayrates are showing little improvement. CEO Anthony Petrello said working rigs in the lower 48 grew by 13% sequentially during the third quarter to roughly 50. He added that there are currently 61 rigs running in the lower 48, and demand for high-specification rigs is particularly strong.
