SM Energy said it has reached two separate deals to sell off some noncore oil assets as the firm continues to streamline its portfolio and whittle down its considerable debt load. The Denver-based independent said it will receive a total of $172.5 million for the two packages of noncore assets, which include a combined 79,000 acres in New Mexico, Montana and North Dakota.
