US Oil Rig Count Falls to Six-Year Low of 400

The number of rigs drilling for oil in the US fell to a six-year low this past week as low oil prices continue to dampen upstream activity. Data from oil-field services provider Baker Hughes showed that the US oil rig count fell by 13 during the week ended Feb. 26 to exactly 400. That is the lowest number of rigs targeting oil since December 2009.
