Canada's oil industry and the country as a whole are taking a beating from the collapse in crude oil prices, with a fresh batch of forecasts providing a pessimistic backdrop for the publication of Alberta's annual budget on Thursday. The Conference Board of Canada estimates that oil industry revenues will fall by 37% -- or some C$43 billion (US$34 billion) -- this year, with the industry posting an aggregate pretax loss of more than C$3 billion ($2.4 billion) and shedding close to 8,000 jobs ( OD Jan.22'15 )
