Ireland's Sole Refinery May Close

Ireland's only oil refinery could well become the next victim of capacity rationalization in Europe's fading downstream oil industry as it goes on sale once again. The Whitegate plant, located in Cork, has a 71,000 barrel per day crude processing capacity and produces approximately 75,000 tons of refined products daily. The plant meets about 40% of Ireland's transport fuel demand and comes with a small oil marketing arm to boot.
