Exxon Delays Upper Zakum Decision

Exxon Mobil won't decide before 2017 whether to join Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (Adnoc) in hoisting output from Abu Dhabi's giant offshore Upper Zakum oil field beyond the existing target of 750,000 barrels per day, the US supermajor's top executive said Wednesday. The Zakum Development Co., a consortium of Exxon, Adnoc and Japan's Inpex, is currently working to raise production capacity at the 50 billion bbl field to 750,000 b/d by 2018 from about 600,000 b/d now ( PIW Jul.20'15 ).
