Nabors Lays Off Over 40% of Its US Drilling Workers

Leading US onshore drilling contractor Nabors Industries said it has laid off more than 40% of its US drilling workers in response to the collapse in oil prices and the corresponding slump in North American upstream activity. Nabors said it has downsized its overall workforce by 18% -- or nearly 5,500 employees -- since the beginning of 2015, as the company adjusts to the collapse in drilling in the US and Canada.
